So, you've known one another for a while; that's good. Before doing any intimate physical touching, you should first talk about it. It is possible that initially you will be in different places about it. Listen to one another and reflect the other's feelings back to them: for example, say, "I hear that you are worried about getting pregnant." At a minimum, you should address birth control, if you are considering having sex. Pregnancies can definitely happen from one unprotected act of sex--even when you try to stop in time.
