Yes, text messaging doesn't really have any tone, so it's very easy to take things the wrong way. I think first of all, you need to learn how to write with tone. This includes using words like awesome and sprinkling in exclamation points and smiley faces now and then. I also think it's important to give people the benefit of the doubt and understand that you can take things the wrong way. As a rule of thumb, whether it's in person or online, I think positive comments are really important, as well as enthusiasm and warmth.
