Yes! It is a good idea to call, especially if the company is hard to contact in other ways. If you're angling for an interview, try calling on mornings early in the week. People tend to be more receptive then because they're getting a fresh start on their work. If they have no open positions, ask if there's a time you could drop off your resume in person in case anything opens up. Whatever they say, make sure to thank them for their time.
