Whenever I hit some kind of writer's block, I'll often just hop in the shower and sing whatever I feel like singing. Most of the time the lyrics are random and nonsensical, but as I'm freestyling, I often hit a melody or a phrase that really resonates with me, and that can be great inspiration for a new song.
