When choosing your verbs, try looking up synonyms of the verbs you normally use. Look for synonyms that have more punch or character. For example, instead of saying, "I went to the mountains", you might say, "I journeyed to the mountains". Most importantly, practice substituting your mundane verbs out for more interesting ones. Practice will make it easier in the future.
