There are parasites other than fleas which can cause irritation, such as the 'Walking Dandruff' mite, lice, and mange mites. These parasites can be too small to see with the naked eye, so have your dog checked over by a vet. Other possible causes include allergies, which can be to anything in the environment (such as dust or pollens) and food.
