The knob on the bottom of my guitar is where I plug it into the amp. My strap won't fit, as it's too short! Any suggestions?

I think that's just the amp plug and not the strap holder. There's not usually one knob for both of these functions. It sounds like your guitar doesn't have a knob to hold the strap. Take it to a guitar/music shop and see if they can install one for you.
