Can't I also trade a Mew using the original glitches in RB? Just get one in Red or Blue and trade it through multiple games until I have one in FR/LG?

No. There is no backwards compatibility between Generations 1/2 and 3. The reason why these remakes exist is because you couldn't trade upwards from the first two generations -- this also applies somewhat to the Virtual Console versions of these remakes, as it's harder to find legitimate copies of FRLG currently.
