Are our senators and representatives supposed to represent the wishes of their respective constituencies, or are they supposed to do and vote the way they want to? As I recall, the word representative means "he who represents the wishes of others (those he represents)". Is that so?

Although the representatives are allowed to vote however they see fit, if they want to get elected and re-elected, they should learn how the political party they represent feels about present topics.
