It's more about assertiveness! A typical bad boy doesn't care that much about trying to please others—he's comfortable speaking his own mind. The line really gets crossed when he starts being disrespectful and going too far. That's not saying you have to bend over backwards to be respectful, but you also don't have to be a complete jerk about things.
