Southern. The border between areas with "northern" and "southern" accents has shifted gradually to the south over the last few decades. Southern Jersey accents range from very slight to something resembling a full-on southern accent, depending on where you go. Northern accents also have a broad range depending on how close you are to New York City, from barely noticeable to very strong, with nearly the same nasal ring as a Staten Island accent.
