Installing a deer-proof fence is one of the most effective ways to keep deer out. Choose a fence that is at least 8 feet tall and made of sturdy materials. Make sure to secure the bottom of the fence, as deer can attempt to crawl underneath. You can also choose plants that are known to be less appealing to deer. Examples include certain varieties of daffodils, lavender, yarrow, foxglove, and ornamental grasses. However, keep in mind that hungry deer may still eat these plants during periods of food scarcity.
