A latte is made with espresso and steamed milk while coffee usually refers to drip coffee. A latte has more steamed milk and less foam than a cappuccino. A latte should be 1/4 part espresso, 2/4 parts steamed milk, and 1/4 part foam while a cappuccino should be equal parts of each. Espresso is an emulsion and drip coffee is an extraction.
