If you can destroy the nest, you can control the infestation. Empty out all of your cabinetry, even to the point of taking the shelves out, and use over-the-counter sprays to kill any cockroaches you see. Usually, if you do that in your entire kitchen and bathroom, you'll be able to find 80-90% of the population that's staying in your home. Then, you can use baits to wipe out the rest.
