Typically, if it's virgin hair, you can lift it pretty easily—just use bleach in stages. Start adding red in slowly; for example, start with a balayage effect first. When you do this in stages and use a highlight color, which will deposit red in your hair. This will add dimension to your hair so that it isn't just one solid shade, which might not be aesthetically pleasing. When you gradually add red to your hair, it will settle better and you'll avoid getting an over-the-top color.
