Option 1 : Imipramine
Concept:
- Enuresis -> bed wetting which is very common among infants, which will subside by 5 years
- If the condition persists it is a kind of behavioural problem which needs a doctor's advice
- Behavioural therapy can be a part of its treatment
- Imipramine can be given to correct their behaviour and the underlying cause can be treated
Explanation:
- Nocturnal enuresis -> involuntary urination while asleep
- Mostly evident in childrens
- Causes:
- Psychological problems
- Urinary tract abnormalities
- Treatment:
- Desmopressin (DDAVP) and imipramine (Tofranil) drugs
- Pharmacologic treatment is not recommended for children under six years of age
- Pica, enuresis, thumb sucking and nail-biting are the most common types of behavioural disorders observed in children
- If the children are having such disorders it should promptly
- Chlorpromazine - sedative and antiemetic
- Trazodone - used to treat depression
- Sertraline - used to treat depression and OCD
