Data handling is the collection of data in the context of a situation that we want to study, systematically organizing the data, and then interpreting it accordingly.
- The teacher in the above example followed the activity-based approach to introduce the data handling concept to students.
Benefits of an activity-based approach:
- Activities provide enough scope for learning in one’s style and own pace
of learning. - It develops the ability to self-learning. While performing activities one develops the abilities of inquiry, assessing one’s knowledge, and construction of new knowledge.
- Learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be the four pillars of learning is possible through an activity-based approach.
- Therefore, performing activities as a regular classroom practice develops several cognitive, socio-emotional, and psycho-motor aspects in the children ensuring the development of a holistic personality.
Hence the purpose of the above-given activity by the teacher was to introduce the topic of data handling.
