Option 3 : Allowing students to discuss the possible sources of error among themselves.
Science is a subject that involves a lot of inquiry and investigation where the students will have various options among them, they have to investigate and find out the correct one. This will succeed only if the teachers :
- Allows students to think beyond the textbook.
- Makes sure the students get curious about the concept and as a result, they start investigating.
- Allowing students to discuss the possible sources of error among themselves as each student gives a possibility, each possibility will be discussed and the correct one is found.
- Provide students the required freedom and also resources for investigation.
- Do not restrict the student to a single thought or single type of thought.
On the other hand insisting on the demonstration of correct results by students, assigning tasks that require sophisticated gadgets, and rigidly following the textbook in terms of the prescribed steps and material required doesn't increase the curiosity in children, as a result investigating the environment doesn't form in the classroom.
Hence, we can conclude that option 3 is correct.
