Option 2 : Brainstorming

Critical thinking means one looks at the available evidence and evaluates it. It is not possible to find an answer to a question just on the basis of the opinions of one’s friends and family which may be quite misleading. Instead, it is important to consider all possible evidence: data gathered through primary research, information available in existing research, and perspectives of different experts and stakeholders.

  • For example, if the government has to consider how to prepare for an epidemic.

The brainstorming method was developed by Alex F. Osborn. It is the oldest and best-known technique for stimulating creative thinking. It is the most fruitful exercise to solve complex and critical problems.

  • Within the given time, the student must create ideas using critical thinking which focuses on applying reasoning and logic to new or unfamiliar situations, ideas, and opinions.
  • Students present, share and analyze their understanding and look at any issues from different angles and others' points of view.
  • It helps to achieve the higher order of cognitive objectives as it just demands the active participation of the child in the learning process by making them think and note the ideas in their own style.
  • It makes students able to take others' perspectives as in brainstorming, many creative minds work together and apply their diverse thinking patterns to generate creative ideas on a particular topic.

Hence by all these references we can say that Brainstorming method promotes the critical thinking of the students.

Hint

  • Direct instruction based learning method never promotes critical thinking of the students, it can stuck the knowledge of the students at a fix position.
  • Copying answer form black board is a type of activity in which child never use their cognition to understand they just see and copied it so it also never promotes critical thinking of the students.
  • Writing same thing multiple times is not a conceptual way of learn, it is a another type of rote learning.
