Option 1 : 5 ft

We have to find the distance AH.

From the diagram we know that,

AB = 4 ft

BC = 4 ft

CD = 3 ft

DE = 1 ft

EF = 1 ft

FG = 5 ft

GH = 1 ft

BH = BC - DE = (4 - 1) ft = 3 ft

Using Pythagoras theorem,

(AH)² = (AB)² + (BH)²

(AH)² = (4)² + (3)²

(AH)² = 16 + 9 = 25 ft

AH = ft

AH = 5 ft

Hence, distance between Somya’s initial position and H is 5 ft.
