Body waves travel in the interior of the Earth and are dependent on the density and modulus. These can be Primary(P) and Secondary(S) waves.
Surface waves travel below the surface of Earth and have comparatively lesser speed than body waves.
The velocity of waves changes as they travel through materials with different densities. The denser the material, the higher is the velocity.
