Rajendra Prasad was the second President and the first permanent president of the Constituent Assembly. He was made President after the temporary President Sachidananda Sinha.
The number of members of the Constituent Assembly was reduced to 299 after the partition of India. Earlier the number was 389.
In 1946, Benegal Narsing Rau was appointed as the assembly's constitutional adviser. He was a civil servant, diplomat, jurist and statesman.
Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 by the Constituent Assembly.
