Given:

A cylinder of height 15 cm and base diameter 14 cm

Formula used:

Curved surface area of cylinder = 2π × radius(r) × height(h)

Area of parallelogram paper sheet = base × height

Calculation:

According to the question,

⇒ Area of parallelogram paper sheet = base × height = 50 × 18 = 900 cm²

Now,

⇒ Area of sheet cut for cylinder = Curved surface area of cylinder = 2π × base radius × height = 2 × (22/7) × (14/2) × 15 = 660 cm²

⇒ Area of remaining sheet = 900 – 660 = 240 cm²

∴ The area of the remaining sheet is 240 cm².
