Option 2 : 3750 m
Formula used:
Speed = distance/time
Average speed = total distance /total time
Calculation:
Let the distance covered by the man in 1st period of time be x m
So, the distance covered by the man in 2nd period of time is 3x m
So, the distance covered by the man in 3rd period of time is 6x m
So, total distance = x + 3x + 6x = 10x
Now,
Average speed = (total distance covered)/(total time taken)
50 = 10x/(15 + 45 + 90)
⇒ 10x = 50 × 150
⇒ 10x = 7500 m
So, half of the total distance = 7500/2 = 3750 m
