Task Analysis is normally applied to a complex series of actions for the purpose of improving best practices. Teaching a 3 year old how to do a puzzle should be not be considered a task, it should be lighthearted playtime. If the 12-piece puzzle is too hard, let the child work on 4 or 6 piece puzzles first, until they understand the concept and start to enjoy the game.
