There's not much you can do to control whether they'll come back. When you treat them with antibiotics, about 50% will heal up, and 50% won't, but you can't know who will be in that 50% that end up recurring. If the appropriate surgery is done at the appropriate time, the recurrence rate is only like 2-3%, but again, that's not under the patient's control.
