Yes, I painted mine and it was easy. In step 5, use a medium sandpaper to lightly rough up the surface, just enough to take off any gloss remaining after the ammonia wash and the steel wool. You don't want to destroy the texture. Use spray paint, don't try to apply paint with a brush.
