Bumps are pretty common. There are a couple of different reasons why people can have bumps. The simple more common reason is irritation from bumping your piercing, sleeping on it wrong, or getting something into it. This happens pretty commonly with cartilage piercings, whether that's in the ear or the nose. In most cases, as soon as you relieve that irritating factor, that bump's going to go away. This could be soaps or face wash or things like that as well. This could also come from being pierced with improper jewelry. So if you're pierced with a ring that is too small, or a stud where the jewelry just rubs or sits incorrectly, that can lead to irritation bumps. The lesser common bumps that we see are legitimate keloids. Keloids are the body's response to experiencing trauma, and piercing is a form of trauma to the tissue.
