Option 1 : 6984

Let cost to wholesaler = Rs. x

Selling price of watch by wholesaler = 1.08x

Cost price of watch for retailer = 1.08x

Selling price of watch by retailer = 1.08x + 1.08x × 12/100 = (1.08x) × (1.12) = 1.2096x

Given selling price of watch by retailer = 8448 = 1.2096x

⇒ x = 6984 approximately.

∴ Cost to the wholesaler = Rs. 6984
