Option 4 : 200 m

Let the length of train P be 2p m and length of train Q be 3p m

⇒ Total distance two trains has to cover = 539 km + length of train P + length of train Q = (539 × 1000)m + 2p + 3p = 539000 + 5p m

⇒ Relative speed = (20 + 25) m/sec = 45 m/sec = 45 × (18/5) = 162 km/hr

⇒ Time taken = 3hr 20 min = 3 + (20/60) hr = 10/3 hr

Now,

⇒ Total distance two trains has to cover = Speed × time = 162 × (10/3) = 540 km = 540000 m

According to question,

⇒ 539000 + 5p = 540000

⇒ p = 200 m

⇒ Difference between the length of two trains = 3p – 2p = p = 200 m
