Option 1 : 100 cm2
Concept:
length and breadth of a rectangle meet each other at 90°
Explanation:
By joining the diagonal, a right-angle triangle is made inside the rectangle.
Who’s perpendicular = 6 cm, Base = 8 cm
Now, by Pythagoras theorem
(Hypotenuse)2 = (Perpendicular)2 + (Base)2
Hypotenuse = 10 cm
Diagonal of rectangle is equal to the side of square.
∴ Side of square = 10
Area of square = (side)2 = 100 cm2
Short trick:-
Pythagorean triplet: 6, 8, 10
Perpendicular = 6 cm, Base = 8 cm, Hypotenuse = 10 cm
Diagonal of rectangle = Base of square = 10 cm
Area of square = 10 × 10 = 100 cm2
