Explanation:

By joining the diagonal, a right-angle triangle is made inside the rectangle.
Who’s perpendicular = 6 cm, Base = 8 cm

Now, by Pythagoras theorem
(Hypotenuse)2 = (Perpendicular)2 + (Base)2

Hypotenuse = 10 cm

Diagonal of rectangle is equal to the side of square.
∴ Side of square = 10

Area of square = (side)2 = 100 cm2

Perpendicular = 6 cm, Base = 8 cm, Hypotenuse = 10 cm
