CALCULATION:

Suppose the population of towns A and B are 20x and 27x respectively.

According to the question:

(20x + 25000) : 27x = 25 : 27

⇒ 540x + 675000 = 675x

⇒ 135x = 675000

⇒ x = 5000

Hence,

Current population of town A = 20 × 5000 + 25000 = 125000
