Given:

Average weight of sections A = 40 kg

Number of students in sections A = 36

Average weight of sections B = 35 kg

Number of students in sections B = 44

Formula:

Average = Sum of all observation/total number of all observations

Calculation:

Sum of weight of section A = 40 × 36 = 1440 kg

Sum of weight of section B = 35 × 44 = 1540 kg

Sum of weight of sections A and B= 1440 + 1540 = 2980 kg

Total number of students in sections A and B = 36 + 44 = 80

∴ Average weight of section A and section B = 2980/80 = 37.25 kg
