My friend used his gas can 2 weeks ago to put gas in my car. Now my car won't take more then $2 of gas at a time. It spits it out. What do I do?

You may have gotten a clog in your evaporation system. This can happen when particles from a dirty gas can become stuck in the system lines. This is the system that prevents fuel vapor from escaping to the atmosphere. When a clog develops, the fuel tank cannot properly release pressure and the fuel does not flow fast enough into the tank. The gas pump nozzle thinks the tank is full and stops. You can get the system smoke tested at your local mechanic, or try filling slowly. You may develop a "check engine" light soon due to the nature of the system. They are very touchy when it comes to leaks and flow issues.
