Pictochat is only available in the Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL. All users who have Pictochat can connect with each other if they are near each other; it doesn’t matter if it’s a different Nintendo DS, DSi and DSi XL members have the rainbow pen option available, the others don’t and there is no way to get it, plus, the DS and DS Lite members receive a special sound when you get a DSi message. 2DS and 3DS don’t include Pictochat and you can’t download it. You can use mods but they may not work.
