She said that she never drank anything for luncheon.Promptly I answered that I did not drink anything too. She proceeded as though I had not spoken that I had(drank) (nothing but) white wine. So I replied that those French white wine were so light. And also added that they were wonderful for the digestion. Then I asked, with hospitable still, but not exactly effusive, what she would like.
