The difference between Shyam’s and Ram’s age is same as the present age of Hari.

Formula:

If ratio of A and B is = x ∶ y

∴ A / B = x / y

Calculation:

Hari’s age after 10 years will be 30 years.

∴ Hari’s present age = (30 - 10) = 20 years

∴ Ram’s present age = (20 - 4) = 16 years

∴ Present age Shyam = (16 + 20) = 36 years

According to the question,

⇒ 4 / x = 16 / 36

⇒ 16x = 144

⇒ x = 9

∴ The value of x = 9
