In a particular month for 500 units, the total electricity bill was Rs. 2,000 and in another month for 650 units, the total bill was Rs. 2,450. In a monthly electricity bill, some part is fixed and other part is calculated based on the actual consumption of power per unit price. In a particular month for 500 units, the total electricity bill was Rs. 2,000 and in another month for 650 units, the total bill was Rs. 2,450. What will be the electricity bill, if the power consumption is 725 units? Correct Answer Rs. 2,675

Given:

For 500 units, bill amount = 2000

For 650 units, bill amount = 2450

Calculation:

500 units → 2000

650 units → 2450

∴ 150 units → 450

⇒ 1 unit → 3

725 unit = (650 units + 75 units)

For 650 units, bill amount = 2450

For extra 75 units, bill amount = 75 × 3 = 225

∴ Bill amount for 725 units = 2450 + 225 = 2675
