The ratio of copper and tin in an alloy A is 4 : 5 and that ratio in alloy B is 5 : 4 if the alloys are mixed in the ratio 2 : 3. what is the ratio of copper and tin in mixed alloy.

The ratio of copper and tin in an alloy A is 4 : 5 and that ratio in alloy B is 5 : 4 if the alloys are mixed in the ratio 2 : 3. what is the ratio of copper and tin in mixed alloy. Correct Answer 23 : 22

Given that,

Alloy A copper and tin  = 4 : 5

Alloy B copper and tin = 5 : 4

Mixed alloy                 = 2 : 3

Alloy A copper and tin  = (4 : 5) × 2  ⇒ 8 : 10

Alloy B copper and tin  = (5 : 4) × 3 ⇒ 15 : 12

Final alloy copper = 8 + 15 = 23

Final alloy tin = 10 + 12 = 22

Then the ratio in mixed alloy = 23 : 22

∴ The required ratio = 23: 22
