Three candidates contested an election and received 2272, 15272 and 23256 votes, respectively. All votes valid votes. What percentage of the total votes did the candidate with the minimum votes get (correct to the nearest natural number)? Correct Answer 6%

Given:

Votes received by 1st candidate = 2272

Votes received by 2nd candidate = 15272

Votes received by 3rd candidate = 23256

Formula used:

Percentage = (Value ⁄ Total Value) × 100

Calculation:

Total number of votes = 2272 + 15272 + 23256

⇒ Total number of votes = 40800

As, 1st candidate received minimum votes

⇒ Percentage votes received by 1st candidate = (2272/40800) × 100

⇒ Percentage votes received by 1st candidate = 5.56 ≈ 6% (approx)

∴ The candidate with the minimum votes get approximately 6% of the total votes
