The income of A is 80% of B's income, and the expenditure of A is 75% of B’s expenditure. If A’s income is 90% of B's expenditure, then the savings of A is x% more than that of B. What is the value of x? Correct Answer 20

Given :

The income of A is 80% of B's income

Expenditure of A is 75% of B's expenditure

A's income is 90% of B's expenditure

Calculations :

Let the income of B be '100x'

So Income of A will be '80x'

For B's expenditure

90% of B's expenditure = A's income

B's expenditure = 800x/9

For A's expenditure

A's expenditure = 75% of B's expenditure

A's expenditure = 200x/3

Now savings of A = income of A - expenditure of A

⇒ 80x - (200x/3)

⇒ 40x/3

Savings of B = Income of B - Expenditure of B

⇒ 100x - (800x/9)

⇒ 100x/9

Now

Required per cent = (40x/3) - (100x/9)/(100x/9) × 100

⇒ 20%

∴ Required percentage is 20%
