In a fundraiser campaign, the total fund collected from some persons was Rs.42,300, now 11 persons donated average of Rs.2200 such that the average donation becomes Rs.2375. What will be the total donation collected if all the persons donated Rs.2500 each? Correct Answer Rs.70,000

Let the number of persons who donated in the campaign be x

Now, 11 persons donated an average amount of 2200 

∴ Total sum collected = 42,300 + (2200 × 11) = Rs.66500

Average amount collected from (11 + x) persons is Rs.2375 

∴ Total sum collected = 2375 × (11 + x) = 26125 + 2375x

∴ 26125 + 2375x = 66500

⇒ 2375x = 40375

⇒ x = 17

Now, the total number of people who donated = 17 + 11 = 28 

Each person donated = Rs.2500

∴ Total amount collected = 2500 × 28 = Rs.70,000
