Given :

Rahul can reach his destination in 4.5 hours at a speed of 24 km/h.

After travelling for 2 hours at this speed he had to stop for 1 hour for some reasons

Formula used :

Distance = speed × time 

Calculations :

Total distance to cover = 4.5 × 24 

⇒ 108 km 

Now distance travelled in 2 hours at 24 km/h speed = 2 × 24 

⇒ 48 km 

Remaining distance = 108 - 48 

⇒ 60 km 

Remaining time = 2.5 - 1      (He stopped for 1 hour)

⇒ 1.5 hour 

Now speed at which he should cover the remaining distance in 1.5 hours 

Speed × 1.5 = 60 

Speed = 40 km/h 

∴ He should travel at a speed of 40 km/h for the remaining time.
