Two shopkeepers A and B sell some articles for ₹ 6000 each. Shopkeeper A calculates his profit percent on his cost price and shopkeeper B calculates his profit percent on wrongly on selling price. If both shopkeepers claim to have a profit of 25%, then, what is the difference in their actual profit (in  ₹ )? Correct Answer 300

For Shopkeeper A:

SP = ₹ 6000

Selling Price = 125% of CP

⇒ 6000 = 125% of CP

⇒ CP = (6000 × 100)/125

⇒ CP = ₹ 4800

Profit = 25% of CP

⇒ Profit = 25% of 4800

⇒ Profit = ₹1200

For Shopkeeper B:

SP = ₹ 6000

Profit= 25% of SP

⇒ Profit = 25% of 6000

⇒ Profit = ₹ 1500

∴ required difference between profits = ₹ (1500 – 1200) = ₹300
