The income of Ramesh and Suresh are in a ratio of 3 : 2 and their monthly expenditures are in ratios 2 : 1. If at the end of the month Ramesh saves Rs. 25,000 and Suresh Saves Rs. 20,000, what is the difference in income between them? Correct Answer Rs. 15,000
Given
Ramesh’s Savings = 25,000
Suresh’s Savings = 20,000
Calculation:
Expenditure of Ramesh = 2x, Expenditure of Suresh = x
Income of Ramesh = 3y, Income of Suresh = 2y
Savings = Income – Expenditure
⇒ 3y – 2x = 25,000 ....(1)
2y – x = 20,000 ....(2)
⇒Solving by (2 x Equation 2) – Equation 1,
⇒ x = 10,000 and y = 15,000
Income of Ramesh = 3y = 3 x 15,000
⇒ 45,000
Income of Suresh = 2y
⇒ 2 x 15,000 = 30,000
⇒ Difference of Income = 45,000 – 30,000 = 15,000
∴ Difference of Income = Rs. 15,000
