The present age of grandfather is 88 years

Calculation:

Let, 4 years ago their age was 7x and 6x years

⇒ Their present age is (7x +4) and (6x + 4) years respectively.

Accordingly,

(7x + 4 + 6x + 4) + 28 = 88

⇒ 13x + 8 + 28 = 88

⇒ 13x = 52

⇒ x = 4

The present age of the younger brother is (6 × 4 + 4) = 28 years

At the time of birth age of the grandfather was 88 - 28 = 60 years

∴ The age of their grandfather at the time of birth of the younger brother was 60 years.
