A can print one lakh of books in 8 hours, B can print the same number of books in 10 hours while C can print them in 12 hours. All started working at 9 A.M. while A is closed at 11 A.M. and the remaining work was completed by B and C. Approximately at what time will the work (to print one lakh books) to be finished?

Correct Answer 1:00 PM
Given
A can print one lakh of books in hours = 8 hours,
B can print the same number of books in hours = 10 hours
C can print them in hours = 12 hours
Formula used
Work = Time × Efficiency
Calculation
(A + B + C)'s 1 hour's work
⇒ 1/8 + 1/10 + 1/ 12 = 37/120
Work done by A, B and C in 2 hours will be
⇒ (37/120) × 2 = 37/60
Remaining work
⇒ 1 - 37/60 = 23/60
(A + B)'s 1 hour's work
⇒ 1/10 + 1/12 = 11/60
Now, 11/60 Work is done by B and C in 1 hour.
So, 23/60 work will be done by A and C in (60/11) × 23/60 = 23/11 hour
∴ The work will be finished approximately 2 hours after 11 A.M., i.e., around 1 P.M.
