All the machines are started at 9 A.M.While machine P is stopped at 11 A.M. and remaining two machines completed the work. Approximately at what at what time will the work time (to print one lakh books) be finished? Correct Answer 11.30 Am
Machine P in 1 hour can print 1/8 of te books Machine Q in 1 hour can print 1/10 of te books Machine R in 1 hour can print 1/12 of te books Together in 1 hour they can print = 1/8 + 1/10 + 1/12 = (15 + 12 + 10)/120 = 37/120 of the books They worked altogether from 9am to 11am = 2 hours So, together they printed = 37/120×2 = 37/60 of the books Remaining books to be printed = 1 - 37/60 = 23/60 of the books Now, machine Q and R together can print (1/10 + 1/12 = ) 11/60 of the books in 1 hour So, they can print 23/60 of the books in 1×(23/60)×(60/11) = 2.09 hours = 125 min So, printing will be finished at 9am + 125min = 11:05am approximately.
