Given:

The age of mother is 3 times age of daughter

After 12 years, the ratio of age is 1 : 2

Calculation:

Let the present age of daughter be x

Then, the present age of mother be 3x

The age after 12 years,

Daughter = x + 12

Mother = 3x + 12

According to the question;

⇒ (x + 12)/(3x + 12) = 1/2

⇒ 2x + 24 = 3x + 12

⇒ x = 12 years

∴ The present age of daughter is 12 years
