Given:

Milk and condensed water is mixed to form a dilute solution. The price of the condensed water and milk is Rs. 28.5 and Rs. 51 per kg respectively .

Formula:

Ratio = (Dearer price - mean)/(mean – cheaper price)

Calculation:

Ratio in which the two items should be mixed = (60 - 39)/(39 – 28.5) = 21 /10.5 = 2 : 1

Let the quantity of the milk to be added be x kg.

Ratio = 2 : 1 = x : 51

⇒ x = 102

Therefore 102 kg is required.
